Golden sun and harvest moon,
Silver moon and glittering stars,
A change is in the air.
Equal day, equal night,
Days grow shorter, fading light,
Early morning mists and dews,
Earth still warm from summer heat.
Trees are shaken by the breeze.
Until the dying leaves cascade.
to cover lawns with autumn shades.
of fire and gilt.
Windfall apples, bruised and brown,
Sloes for gin, brambles for jam,
Hips and haws, a gathering time,
Change is in the air.
