Last October I started to struggle with a painful knee and realised I had done too much gardening, too much edging! not enough painting!
This year, I asked the garden if she could take care of herself…
“of course” she said, “I can do that, you just take things easy for a while but don’t forget you can still paint” …and so I did.
Cow Parsley, Pink Campion and Comfrey filled the garden with flowers and nectar for the bees and butterflies. Dragon flies appeared after the rain when the early spring sunshine warmed the earth, the grass grew longer throughout no mow May and magical pathways were cut through the meadow of Bugle, buttercups and daisies.
Marjoram, roses and cranesbill geraniums live happily side by side, with honeysuckle and jasmine growing to their hearts content. Their fragrance is sublime.
The Garden seems to be saying “come on in – the more the merrier, there’s plenty of room here”… Paint me while the flowers grow and bloom”.
